NEW Watch! + How to Style

The time has finally come: Bravelets' Time to Be Brave Watch is available! This is has been a great season of products for Bravelets, so we are very happy to introduce this new watch to you! You can shop this style here.

I personally LOVE the watch and I can't wait to have one in every color (okay, maybe that's a tad excessive...). I keep daydreaming about how to wear this watch. It's so versatile, especially since it comes in all of our 16 available colors. So, I put my imagination and love for bracelets to use and styled the watch in a couple different ways to show y'all.

What follows is called an Arm Party. I was really scared of the mystical and fashionable arm party for quite awhile. I didn't know what bracelets to include! I wasn't sure if I even had the right bracelets! But after searching the topic vigorously on Pinterest, I have come to one conclusion: Just like a regular party, there should be no rules to an arm party.

With that being said, I do have some suggestions for your Bravelets arm party! Nowadays I rarely leave the house without one, so let me regale you with my extensive knowledge of stacking bracelets.

Bravelets bracelets used: Gold Signature Bar, Silver Audrey, Pink Original Rope, Army Green Friendship, Light Blue Audrey, Light Blue and Grey Amelia, Burgundy Audrey, Black Amelia.
Bravelets Watch colors used: Dark Blue, Lime Green, Pearl White

As you can see, there are simple arm parties and busy arm parties! You can do lots of color, B&W, and mix and match the type of bracelet. The best part about the Time to Be Brave Watch is how it makes a PERFECT focal point for your arm party! The key to any good arm of bracelets is balance and fit, if it's a bigger piece (i.e. bangles, large beads) place it farther up your arm. You can do a lot of the same type of bracelets or all different styles!

Make sure to show us how you are styling your Time to Be Brave Watches, comment below when you get yours in the mail!

Spring Treat Recipe!

I thought that since it's Spring and we have a holiday weekend coming up, it was the perfect time to share a recipe with you! When I share a recipe on the blog, I also like to make it at home and then bring the finished treats into Bravelets HQ for everyone to enjoy. But I am no baker/chef, and it turns out I bit off more than I could chew. The treats turned out terribly. Which is embarrassing, because I promised people spring treats! When you see the actual recipe, you are going to laugh at me. It's very easy.

Okay, enough of me rambling...

Bird Nest "Cookies"

Recipe type: Dessert
Prep time:
Total time:
Serves: about 30 nests

A quick and easy recipe to create bird nest cookies for Easter or an Outdoor Garden Party
Ingredients
  • 1 package (16 oz.) Chocolate Candy (I used CandiQuick, but you could use Wilton Candy Melts or your favorite Chocolate Candy.)
  • ¼ cup peanut butter
  • 3 cups chow mein noodles
  • Cadbury Mini Eggs
Instructions
  1. Melt chocolate and peanut butter in microwave. Heat for 1 minute and stir to see if you need any additional time. Heat for 15 second intervals if not fully melted.
  2. Combine all ingredients (except eggs) in a mixing bowl.
  3. Stir well to coat all of the noodles.
  4. Drop by spoonful onto wax paper. Wait about a minute or two and form into nests. The dip in the middle doesn't need to be too big, but make sure there isn't a hole through the nest.
  5. Let harden.
  6. Add eggs into your nests.
  7. Enjoy!

Recipe from A Mom's Impression: http://amomsimpression.com/bird-nest-cookies-perfect-for-easter-or-an-outdoor-garden-party/

I don't know what happened, but my nests did not turn out like the photo above. And sometimes treats don't look pretty, but they still taste good...so I thought I was totally brave enough to try one! Then I almost chipped a tooth on the chow mein, it was so crunchy! I might've bought the wrong kind of chow mein...or maybe this is a sign telling me to stop eating so many sweets. Who knows.

Pictured below: my attempt.

See? Embarrassing.

But we are past it; I dipped frozen bananas in the remainder of the melted chocolate, so the night wasn't all bad. Anyway, they say this recipe is great for a kid's group activity and you can also substitute the chow mein for pretzels! I bet that would be tasty!

Let me know if you plan on making these or any other Easter weekend goodies!

Prayers For Brussels

Today, the Bravelets Team would like to extend our deepest condolences to the friends and families of Brussels who have suffered loss. Days like these are days when we need to be the bravest. Waking up this morning to yet another terrorist attack deeply saddened me and made me believe in the Bravelets mission even more.

It's not all about wearing cute jewelry or tweeting inspirational quotes; it's about being brave for yourself, for someone else, for the world. Here at Bravelets™, we strive to give people a place to give back and to support one another. So I encourage you to support someone today, whether or not you have personal ties to Brussels. Be brave today, and send positivity to those you know, as well as those in need.

Much love,
kat

It's National Kidney Month + More March Awareness

Tips for keeping your kidneys healthy:

  • Hydrate, remember 4-6 glasses of water a day!
  • Exercise, or simply move a little every day! (Get those steps in!!)
  • Eat healthy, remember your fruits and veggies.
  • Don't smoke, that's a given, c'mon!
  • Don't overdo it with over-the-counter medications, they can really do a number on your liver.
  • If you think you might be at risk for Kidney Disease, then schedule a screening.

“If you have either diabetes or high blood pressure, your physician should screen for kidney dysfunction as part of routine care for those conditions,” Dr. Simon says.

Here are the other main awareness months in March:

  • National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month
  • National Endometriosis Awareness Month
  • Red Cross Month
  • National MS Education and Awareness Month
And we will be rallying support for these causes all month! Tell all your friends and family about your cause and how to show support (maybe wearing some Bravelets bracelets!)

SPRING COLLECTION + BEHIND THE SCENES PHOTOSHOOT

So, as many of you have seen, we have slowly been launching our Spring 2016 Collection here at Bravelets™. I love all the new products so much! Look out for how-to's and style guides here for how to wear some the bracelets and scarves!

There is one BIG item that we haven't released yet, and you will get another sneak peek of it today...

Katie Jameson, a local fashion and editorial photographer, helped us out a little (A LOT) by taking the most beautiful photos of our Spring Collection. Can't wait until you guys get to see all of them, but here are some behind the scenes photos (done by me, I'm not a professional) of the photoshoot and some sneak peeks of the rest of the collection!

How cute are those photos?? Thanks a heap to Katie for working her magic with these photos! Can't wait for y'all to see the rest...and for you to see more of the Bravelets Watch!
