DIY Summer Dog Treats

For Pet Week, along with a sale going on right now...I will be showing you how to make frozen dog treats! It's a super easy recipe and dogs love them, I promise! We had a dog in the office today and she couldn't get enough of them!

Here is what you will need:

  • Bananas
  • Creamy Peanut Butter (get the organic kind!)
  • Coconut Oil (slightly softened)
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Big Spoon
  • Silicone Baking Mold (optional)
I used a dog bowl with cute little paws on it for my mixing bowl just to be cute! And the silicone baking mold is optional because after you have mashed your mixture, you can pipe it into the mold to make a cute shape. I did not have a mold on hand so I just piped mine onto plastic wrap.

Put all the ingredients into a bowl and mash it up until it looks like this...

Then take a baggie and and pour the mixture into the baggie. Be careful, it can get sticky!
Cut the tip off the baggie and use it as a makeshift pipette. This is where you can use a mold if you would like. I just piped the mix onto plastic wrap in layers (so mix, wrap, mix, wrap...) and then you stick it in the freezer for a couple of hours!

The coconut oil is great for dogs fur, (makes it shiny) and your dog will love the peanut butter and banana taste.

What are you supporting in May?

We are supporting MANY awareness months in May, and we have some organizations we have partnered up with to spread their awareness message!

This month is...

  • Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month
  • Huntington's Disease Awareness Month
  • Mental Health Awareness Month
  • Skin Cancer Awareness Month
  • Preeclampsia Awareness Month
  • National Arthritis Awareness Month
  • Celiac Disease Awareness Month
  • Hepatitis Awareness Month
  • National Lupus Awareness Month
  • National Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month
We have also paired up with Postpartum Progress for Postpartum Depression Awareness Month, and The National Stroke Association for National Stroke Awareness Month!

There are so many great causes to support out there, some have touched our lives or the lives of our loved ones...which ones do you support?

The best *Treat Your Self Treats* for the weekend!

1. Papaya Agua Fresca (Just in time for Cinco De Mayo!)

You can find the recipe for this delicious and refreshing drink in the link above. It'll make you feel poolside in an instant! And the best part is, you can make it with any combination of fruit that you desire. Personally, cucumber + lime + mint sounds absolutely spa-worthy.

2. Lemon Poppyseed Muffins

These bad boys are made with greek yogurt and the outcome is a moist and tangy muffin! I promise you won't be able to eat just one. They are great for beginner bakers, too (like me)!

3. Spicy Grapefruit Margs

If you are looking to get a little feistier this weekend, then look no further. You can make these frozen or on the rocks, drinker's choice! And this drink will give you a chance to really show off your garnishing and drink decorating skills. Definitely Pinterest and Instagram worthy!

4. French Macarons

This last one is for a more advanced treat-maker...I've yet to attempt baking macarons yet. But I *have* eaten a lot of them, so maybe I should learn! This recipe teaches you the basic, and once you get the hang of it, move on to more flavors and even decorating!

Let me know of you try out any of these treats! Comments below and take pics of the end results! Post them on Instagram and make sure to tag @bravelets!
